Bann Haus

Nr. on the small map: 10 (Miltenberg)

From the 13th century until 1780, the old Bann House used to be a customs office for Mainz. In its courtyard there are remains of the oldest town wall of Miltenberg. During the Second Margrave War the building was destroyed in 1552. The Archbishop of Mainz, Daniel Brendel von Homburg, had it reconstructed, as can be seen by his coat of arms in the courtyard. Siege projectiles, so called trebuchet stones are decorating the retaining wall. From the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, the building was used as town prison.
