Museum Stadt Miltenberg

Nr. on the small map: 18 (Miltenberg)

In 1541, the main building was constructed by Bernhard von Hardheim, an amtmann (kind of “bailiff”) of Mainz. It was used as an office building until 1826. In 1913 the city administration bought the building. After extensive renovations and modifications the Museum Stadt Miltenberg was opened in the former tax collector’s office in 1996. In 2006 the adjacent house was added to the museum.

A renaissance style garden offering a delightful view of the town also belongs to the museum.

The museum houses a collection of transregional importance, including many precious objects. The regular exhibition bears witness to the history of arts and culture of the town and the region.

Regular special exhibitions and numerous workshops and experiences complement the museum’s offers.

Architectural features of the museum are pointed out to visitors along the way through the buildings. Regular events and special exhibitions make the visit even more worthwhile.

The museum was awarded the Bavarian Museum Award and the Advancement Award of Lower Franconia.
