Zum Goldenen Ochsen

Constructed in 1387, number 108 is the corner house. The name of the restaurant Zum Goldenen Ochsen (the Golden Ox), which was later built here, is derived from a family of butchers and cattle traders who owned it in the 16th and 17th centuries. This is when the first house mark with the ox on it was created, which is currently preserved by the depository of the museums in Aschaffenburg.

During renovations in 1976, this structure was joined to the house number 106 next door. Later, the owner became well-known as a Schlager singer under the stage name Julian Berg, and the restaurant was renamed Beim Singenden Wirt (The Singing Landlord). The 1976 “new” inn sign is kept in the Miltenberg Museums’ depository.
